We work with new slate from Welsh Penrhyn, Canadian Glendyne and Spanish Cafersa quarries, terracotta tiles from trusted Australian suppliers, and reclaimed slate to match an existing roof where that’s the better option. Traditional leadwork is used for flashing and finishing details throughout. Every tile and slate is laid by hand, with the same care and patience the original roof would have been built with.
How a Sydney Reroof Works
Every reroof follows the same careful sequence, and we don’t move to the next step until the last one is done properly. We start with a thorough inspection of the slate, timber, underlay, flashings and ridgeline, then walk you through exactly what’s needed and why. From there we help you choose the right material for the home, whether that’s new Welsh or Spanish slate, reclaimed slate matched to the original, or terracotta and shingle where the house calls for it, and we source all of it ourselves.
The existing roof is stripped by hand, with any salvageable slates sorted and set aside for reuse. The timber frame is inspected and repaired wherever it needs it. New sarking and battens go down to give the new roofing a solid, even base to sit on. Then comes installation, with each slate measured, cut where needed and fixed by hand using traditional methods rather than shortcuts. We finish with new flashings, valleys, ridge capping and any lead or metalwork, checking every detail before the job is signed off.
