A quality slate roof can last 100 years or more with proper maintenance. Welsh slate in particular is renowned for its longevity. Many of the slate roofs we work on across Sydney were installed over a century ago and still have decades of life left in them.

Minor like-for-like repairs generally don’t require a DA, but more extensive work on heritage-listed properties or within Heritage Conservation Areas may need council approval. We can advise you on what’s required for your specific situation and suburb.

In most cases, yes. We source Welsh, Spanish and recycled Australian slate to match existing roofs as closely as possible. We’ll inspect your roof and identify the best match before any work begins.

Slate requires specific techniques that differ significantly from working with tiles or metal roofing. A general roofer may inadvertently damage surrounding slates, use incompatible materials, or fail to properly dress flashings. Our exclusive focus on slate means we understand the material inside out.
